Our "nutrition focused" society...

So many people these days keep talking about the problem of obesity in Americans. Yeah they are right, there is a problem. We do have to many fat people, but the thing that amazes me is that more people don't realize why they are overweight. It is not only because of what they eat, but it is probably more because of their daily habits. People who are typically overweight tend to sleep a lot, they don't like to go the gym, they like to sit on the couch, would rather get a ride to class instead of walk to class, etc.

Its not hard to stay fit or in shape in this world. People just need to take the right approach to nutrition. Studies are starting to show, that good nutrition comes with good fitness habits. I just looked up my five day a week late night order at Wendy's. The order I get has 970 total calories, 360 calories from fat, and 51 grams of protein. The best part is that this meal in no way effects my body because I consistently go to the gym. I still got a six pack and I eat 970 calories almost every night before going to bed! It is not always about how much you eat, but more concentration should be focused on what your eating and what your everyday habits are.

A balanced diet is the best approach to good health. For me, I try and drink an Emergen C everyday, take a Vitamin C tablet, a couple fish oil capsules, two shots of Monavie everyday (Eight servings of fruits and vegetables everyday, plus the highest source of antioxidants in the world.) I by no means am the healthiest person in the world, but I feel like I understand what it takes to stay in shape and stay fit. Its pretty easy, you just need to motivate yourself to be active. Walk every once in a while, instead of driving. Go to the gym! Don't be afraid to print off nutrition facts online and see what you are putting into your body.

Obviously one of the bigger goals in our nation is to shed the obesity label. Well, we can't do that until we get the "couch potato's" off of the couch. If people stay active, and do a few things good for the body everyday, they will be impressed with the results. A challenge for Generation Y in the next couple of decades, will be dealing with the obesity issue. I don't think it will be as tough to conquer as people think it will be, but the citizens of the United States need to be lead in the right direction. The US needs to keep providing American citizens with the opportunity to keep viewing what they eat. This honestly will and already has helped the citizens push the obesity level away. Promoting fitness and nutrition are the key tools to keep the people of our country fit and in shape.
