Projected top pick of the 2016 NBA Draft???

With the direction sports are heading in our current world recruiting is starting to become a bigger deal. Who would have ever imagined that we would be projecting the 2016 first pick in the NBA draft? Well its true...Check out this video:

This young kid is a great athlete and an unreal basketball player for his age. How many kids do you know in middle school who can play basketball like this kid plays it? If this is what the young talent is like now a days, can you imagine what it is going to be like in 10-15 years? I don't want to imagine that. Its going to be wild...Kids left and right are starting to begin sports at younger and younger ages becuase every kid wants to be the next Tom Brady or Kobe Bryant.

Audi R8 Ad...(Required Blog)

The Audi A8 ad just BLEW me away during the Super Bowl. I thought it was such a great ad for so many reasons. Not only did Audi do a good job showing off the new wheels, but they did a great job setting up the perfect environment for the Audi A8 in the ad. Starting out with the old man in the bed who wakes up to a bad dream with a Rolls Royce front end in the bottom of his bed. Then right from that scene, BOOM!! The Audi R8 engine starts up sounding better than any cars engine ever has. The sounds of that baby starting was just beautiful and I am not a big Audi fan. A great one liner they had in there was "Old luxury just got put on notice," that is awesome! What a great ad! It seriously was one of the best ads I have ever seen, hands down.

The advertisement also has a great tertiary connection to it. On YouTube the ad is filled with comments below. There were a lot of comments referencing the ad to a take off from the movie Godfather, which I agree with. When the man wakes up in the bed in the Godfather he sees a horse's head at the bottom of the bed and in the ad it is replaced with a Rolls Royce front end. Many of the comments received were just references to how great the ad was in general. Many people commented that they thought it was a great advertisement and obviously they are impressed with the car. Another comment compared the Audi R8 to the great Lamborguinis, Porsches, Godfathers, etc.

The tertiary connection shown in the advertisement will have a direct impact on sales. The sales for this car will skyrocket. I don't know what the price was before the advertisement aired at the Super Bowl. I would assume though that the price has gone up because everyone who has the means to buy that car wants to take a serious look. The ad was an A advertisement during the Super Bowl. This ad helped give Audi a lot more credibility, as the ad in my opinion was nearly perfect.

Seeing the light...

I was sitting at the dinner table the other night and I came up with a great idea to benefit my Fraternity. That made me think about where that idea came from? What made my brain come up with that random thought about how to make my Fraternity better, while I was sitting at the dinner table eating.

Its like that commercial where the businessmen are trying to think of a great invention or idea for their company so they go huddle around in the shower. Well why did they go in the shower? Most of my best ideas for something are when I am in the shower or when I am sitting up in my bed about to fall asleep. I just find it so random that those are the times when most people come up with great ideas. Its makes you seriously contemplate leaving a blank notepad next to your bed at night, so every time you come up with a good idea you can just write it down.

Defining Evil...

Evil is a term for me that is not just something that can be used lightly. Evil is about as bad as you can get. There is nothing good that ever comes from evil. Evil is something that I never want to take part in. Evil in my own definition is something done intentionally to inflict injury or harm on someone or something. It is typically a corrupt action that is intended to make one one unfairly suffer.

Evil is something that in the future, I hope we can do away with. Unfortunately though, it won't happen. I wish it would. I wish we could block out evil and just think about the good things in life, but we don't always have that option. Someone taking part in an "evil action" is usually stretching the realm of society and decency. There are too many people in our world, who feel that harmful retaliation is the best way to counter back. The truth is responding back in a violent way, probably only makes a situation worse. Evil can't be stopped completely, but it can be contained. If people come to the realization that they really aren't profiting from evil, evil will become less and less evident daily. If the people who performed evil acts took the time to think about what they were doing and the consequences that will occur if caught, I think less people would commit sinful crimes. The best approach to stopping evil acts from occuring is to keep preaching to our young children that evil is not the way to go. Getting the point across to younger children that committing evil acts is wrong, is the best way to attack the situation in an attempt to eliminate evil qualities.

Performance Art...

Performance Art is a beautiful thing. Especially in a video like this one, where the performance is more or less completely random. There are four pieces to performance art: the performer's body, the performer's relationship with the audience, space, and time.

To the best of my knowledge I don't believe I have ever encountered performance art. Although, I think it would be something neat to see. I definitely wouldn't mind seeing Marisa Miller demonstrating performance art, like she has in the past in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition. Just imagine randomly driving through a remote town in Iowa and seeing Marisa Miller on the side of the street demonstrating performance art. Now that would be a sight to see.

But on the more serious side I think the purpose of performance art is to make people think. It puts a different perspective on art and on life. If you saw someone demonstrating performance art, it would definitely make you pause for a minute and think about what that person was doing and what he or she was trying to depict. Viewing performance art definitely has a lot of value. Refer back to what I said a few sentences ago, when I said it puts a different perspective on art or on a situation. I don't want to look for performance art, I just want to randomly run into it. I wonder what my reaction will be when I see it. I guess I will just have to wait until then...

The Power of Music...

The ability to download everyone of your favorite songs onto a small little audio player is one of the miracles of our current technological world. Who would have thought fifteen years ago, that they would have IPODs and MP3s that let you download mass amounts of media files onto the small machines like these portable music players.

IPODs have seriously changed the music society in many different ways. The IPOD has given the people of the world a chance to put a large amount of songs onto a pocket size music player, that can be used at all times. Think about the negative impact IPODs have had on CD sales or radio stations. I am not trying to undermine the job of the CD makers or the radio station companies, but right now they just can't even compete with the IPOD. The IPOD has literally dominated audio sales for the last five years now and they keep improving. I mean pretty much everyone has one! They can plug into the car, they can be used in the gym, they can be used for casual time, they can be used for Fraternity activities, etc. The uses for the IPOD are almost endless! They are a great deal that the current citizens of the world have definitely taken advantage of. I am interested to see what the next improvement to the IPOD is...

Yellow...

There is no color in the world that brightens my day like the color yellow. I don't know if it is the way the yellow springs off of the page or item that you see, but something just separates the color yellow from every other color. Why is yellow so special to me? Well the yellow stands out? To me it represents brightness. It represents happiness. It represents the sun. It represents a lot of things, but most importantly it just puts a smile on my face!

Now obviously, not everyone shares my same opinion on the color yellow. That doesn't bother me! In a way that excites me. It makes me different then the average person, it makes me more unique. The color yellow just brightens my day. It motivates me to want to perform. That bright, colorful glare off of the screen just puts a smile on my face. I know, I know you are probably just saying it is just a color, whats the big deal? Well, yellow is something that inspires me. I don't know why. I can't really explain it, but it just forces me to work harder to prove that I deserve something that I want. If I had it my way, I would put the color yellow all over the place. Unfortunately, I don't always have that option. Many people have small things that influence them. Well for me, one of mine just happens to be a color. None better than the color yellow.

The March to the Finish...

I feel like many people are motivated by small goals in life, that lead to getting through the bigger more long term goals. Everything that is desired in life is not handed over to you on a silver platter. One must prove they deserve it. One must prove that they have earned it.

I feel like life is full of many open roads. One turns the corner and sees the open road ahead, but how does one finish? Does he or she put his or her head down and give it everything they got to get to the finish line first or would one rather coast? Life is made up of so many small decisions that end up making the biggest impact on the most important decisions in life. Goal-setting is what motivates people to perform. It is what motivates people to get better. If people didn't set goals, people wouldn't be as successful.

I heard a saying one time from a mom of a friend of mine who said something like this, "Life can easily be compared to a book. Life is made up of many different chapters. Each chapter represents an event in your life. " With each passing moment, a new page is turned in your book of life. The road represents the path that has never been traveled. The road represents an opportunity. Take advantage of that opportunity! Put the pedal to the floor, hold the wheel tight, and don't let anyone beat you to the finish line...

Baseball and Steroids...

What was once America's favorite past time has fallen under a radar of gray in the modern athletic realm. A game once made for heroes and the naturals like Mickey Mantle and "the Babe" is hardly a sport full of role models today.

Why is it players today are going to such extremes to increase their muscles with such foreign substances to their bodies? Or is it that people can no longer rely on their inner drive to push their competitiveness to the next level.

Hopefully, baseball will clean itself up and return to the media poised sport, in such regard, as it was in years past.

Irish Alcohol...

The other day I was sitting at the lunch table reminiscing about a past trip to Dublin, Ireland. I was reminded of the myriad of new beers I was introduced to. Thanks to the trip Guinness is now one of my favorite beers. I also learned about other drinks like an Irish Car Bomb and the most intriguing-An Irish Flag. The Irish Flag is such an interesting drink because in the shot glass sits 3 liquid colors which don't mix. The Irish Flag is orange, white, and green. The Irish Flag drink contains 1/3 tequila, 1/3 Bailey's, and 1/3 Jameson. Which just considering the ingredients, one would believe the drink would be unbearable, but after taking countless Irish Flags on the trip, I have come to realize that all you taste is the Baileys. I highly recommend this drink for Saint Patrick's Day.

The people in Dublin are very friendly too. One nights, after way too many pints of Guinness, my friends and I were talking to a guy, who picked up on our American accents. He turned out to be in charge of North American advertising for Guinness. Most of his day is spent stationed at the Guinness storehouse. The Guinness storehouse is one of Dublin's main attractions. The Gravity Bar, which is one of the highest points in the city, sits on top. This is considered to be the best pint of Guinness in the world. So next time your looking to just kick back and drink a cold one, think about opening a nice cold can of Guinness.

Hmm which way should I contact today...

We have so many forms of communications these days. Whether is a phone call, text message, email, instant message, a facebook message, a fax, a page, etc. We could go on all day. The point being if these are the all the options we have right now, then what are going to be the options in 30 years? Will phones still be the primary form of contact or will we use something else? Its hard to believe, but their could be a day where phones are no longer are strong form of contact between people. There might be something else. There might just be something better. The future leaves a lot of questions, I can't wait to see what it brings for the next couple of decades. There are some crazy ideas going around about the types of things that are going to be created and I just can't wait to see which ideas actually come to shape.

I don't know about you but the future excites me, and also scares me at the same time. It is a good scare though, it leaves me curious...Wondering what is going to happen next. We think we know what things are going to be created and what things are going to happen. But we really don't know. I guess we will just have to wait it out and see what happens. By the way there was a lunar eclipse tonight. That is pretty sweet! What makes something like that come into the sky? There are so many questions in this world left unanswered, but that is what makes it fun and interesting. If we knew everything that was going to happen on each different day and when, life wouldn't be so interesting. But because it is a surprise, it leaves the people guessing, which in a weird way makes the world a more exciting place to be.

Every round is a perfect round...

One of the most frustrating games in the world is also one of the greatest games in the world. How so? What makes golf so unique is what makes it so great. One distinct feature of golf is that you can never "win". No matter how well one players, the golfer could have always done better.

Another reason that makes golf so unique is that is one of the only games where you can call a penalty on yourself. This shows the type of person that it takes to play golf. Golf forces people to be honest and respectful to others.

The single greatest feature of golf is its social aspect. You can learn more about a person in a round of golf than any other four to five hours of your typical day. This is the true reason people play golf. Few people play because they enjoy the frustration of near impossibility. It's because golf brings people together like no other sport can.

Sleep...

One of my friends always says, "You can sleep when you are dead." May not be the best quote, but how necessary is sleep? I don't think the answer is consistent amongst large groups of people, I think it varies on an individual basis. In a perfect world, I think that eight to nine hours of sleep is what I would want to get every night. Realistically I usually am all over the place during the week. Some nights I get four hours a sleep, the next night I may get six hours, on Saturday night maybe I get ten hours. The numbers aren't consistent. Obviously they vary from situation to situation.

The important thing to realize is that few people, especially my age get the recommended amount of sleep. Why? In all honesty, especially during the week, sleep just isn't a priority. Sometimes I just feel like there are not enough hours in the day! I enjoy sleep. I am sure most people do, but when you have the option to do something else that may be fun or beneficial it is often hard to convince yourself to pass up that opportunity to go to bed early.

I have a feeling that in the near future, someone is going to come up with a creation that allows people to subconsciously think that they slept for more hours then they really did. Or maybe something will be created that proves to the people that they are sleeping better, which in effect will lead to more productive rest. Sleep is definitely a necessity in life, but I honestly believe that the amount of sleep needed varies from person to person. There is no question that typically when you sleep eight to ten hours at night, your performance is probably maximized that next day. Although, who isn't to say that a person who sleeps four hours won't out perform a person who gets ten hours of sleep. I am sure it happens all the time. Sleeping is one of the mysteries of our world. Everyone knows we need it, but why? Why is it so necessary? Does it really rejuvenate the body? I wonder what this world would be like if people never slept...

A Diversified Nation...

The public perception is changing. People no longer look at race and sex as negatives. Race and sex is no longer a detriment to a resume, it may now be a positive. Presidents of companies all around the nation are looking to diversify their team and present a more well-rounded image. Maybe the best example defending our nation's move away from racial and sexual segregation is the fact that the one of our Democratic candidates is a woman, while the other is an African-American man. Twenty or thirty years ago, there was no way in hell that an African-American man or a woman would have ever won a primary. They wouldn't have even come close! The crazy thing about 2008 is, not only is one of them going to win the primary. One of the candidates is going to have a pretty good shot at winning the election for the Presidency.

Something few people forget about the upcoming Presidential election, is which ever candidate wins the Democratic side. Whether it is the African-American male, Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton, the white female. I guarantee you that Democratic nominee will win their race (in Obama's case) or sex (in Clinton's case) by a landslide. That alone may have a huge impact on the race. Not too mention all of the other votes each of these candidates will pickup.

Going back to the future of diversity in the United States...You know that by 2025 more than half of our nation is supposed to be filled with non-white people? Can you imagine that? What is our nation going to be like? I wonder how we will be perceived in the eye of the world. It will probably help us. How will it effect our image? In such an image conscious society, I think that is a big issue with the growing number of foreign people joining our great country. I have nothing against it, but it is going to be interesting to see how our country reacts to the diversity changes that are projected to occur in the very near future.

A Facebook Age...

Who would of imagined that a site like www.facebook.com would be as successful as it is today? I for one, expected nothing of the sort. In hindsight though, Facebook is a great idea! The purpose of the site is to meet people, have an easier way to keep in touch with your friends, and to expand your social network. The site has been growing like crazy. Young teenagers are now itching at the opportunity to create their own Facebook account. Facebook has gotten so big to the point where really anyone between the ages of 15-25 has a Facebook account. If someone doesn't have an account, the next question is immediately why don't you have a Facebook?

Its amazing that a site like this can be so successful so early. But it really does provide a great service. The best part is, it is free! It is growing at such a rapid rate, that Microsoft actually invested in Facebook for $240 million to start consistently running ads on the website. The website is growning at a rate of about 200,000 people everyday. With the age gap always widening. Professionals in the workplace are now starting to create Facebook accounts. The idea of creating Facebook in the first place was such a great idea. The company made $30 million in profits off sales. The company is ran by 23 year old Mark Zuckerberg.

One thing can be guaranteed, that Zuckerburg is going to be a wealthy man. He has started a giant in the marketplace, and eventually plans to take the company public. It is ideas like Zuckerburg's that the general public takes note of and says, "Wow! What a great idea." If the company is making $30 million in profits right now, I can only imagine what this company with make in 2008 or how about in 5 years? By 2010, do you think Facebook could be making a $1 billion in profits? I don't think it is out of the question.

I am so amazed with people like Zuckerburg that are the brain behind great ideas like Facebook. I am sure when he started this company, he did not expect Facebook to blow up like this. Zuckerburg could be starting a trend for the next decade. Many people are looking for the quick and easy way to be successful and Zuckerburg proved that it is not that difficult. Five years ago, I would have never imagined that a website like Facebook would become more popular than America Online's Instant Messager program, but it has...

Our "nutrition focused" society...

So many people these days keep talking about the problem of obesity in Americans. Yeah they are right, there is a problem. We do have to many fat people, but the thing that amazes me is that more people don't realize why they are overweight. It is not only because of what they eat, but it is probably more because of their daily habits. People who are typically overweight tend to sleep a lot, they don't like to go the gym, they like to sit on the couch, would rather get a ride to class instead of walk to class, etc.

Its not hard to stay fit or in shape in this world. People just need to take the right approach to nutrition. Studies are starting to show, that good nutrition comes with good fitness habits. I just looked up my five day a week late night order at Wendy's. The order I get has 970 total calories, 360 calories from fat, and 51 grams of protein. The best part is that this meal in no way effects my body because I consistently go to the gym. I still got a six pack and I eat 970 calories almost every night before going to bed! It is not always about how much you eat, but more concentration should be focused on what your eating and what your everyday habits are.

A balanced diet is the best approach to good health. For me, I try and drink an Emergen C everyday, take a Vitamin C tablet, a couple fish oil capsules, two shots of Monavie everyday (Eight servings of fruits and vegetables everyday, plus the highest source of antioxidants in the world.) I by no means am the healthiest person in the world, but I feel like I understand what it takes to stay in shape and stay fit. Its pretty easy, you just need to motivate yourself to be active. Walk every once in a while, instead of driving. Go to the gym! Don't be afraid to print off nutrition facts online and see what you are putting into your body.

Obviously one of the bigger goals in our nation is to shed the obesity label. Well, we can't do that until we get the "couch potato's" off of the couch. If people stay active, and do a few things good for the body everyday, they will be impressed with the results. A challenge for Generation Y in the next couple of decades, will be dealing with the obesity issue. I don't think it will be as tough to conquer as people think it will be, but the citizens of the United States need to be lead in the right direction. The US needs to keep providing American citizens with the opportunity to keep viewing what they eat. This honestly will and already has helped the citizens push the obesity level away. Promoting fitness and nutrition are the key tools to keep the people of our country fit and in shape.

Superman!!!

This weekend the real Superman came out. Who is he? None other than Dwight Howard. A seven foot black man, the starting center for the Orlando Magic, who might just be stronger than Superman. After throwing down an unreal dunk in the Slam Dunk contest, he ripped off his jersey and had a Superman jersey on and threw a cape of the back of the jersey. Before the crowd knew if Dwight Howard ran towards the hoop and threw down a ferocious slam dunk with Superman form and Superman power! It was unreal. Not too mention, he finished the competition off with two more great slams, and won by a landslide yielding 78% of the vote.

I hate the argument that professional athletes get paid too much money. Because they provide so much joy in so many people's lives. Yea of course it can be argued that professional athletes make too much money, but they deserve it! They bring in more revenue for the companies, leagues, and teams that they play and work for then their salary even pays them. Especially the superstars! Its getting to a point in collegiate athletes that they might have to start paying the players, I actually believe that they should have a larger monthly budget then they are currently allowed by the NCAA. I feel it is important that the players get rewarded for the joy that they bring to the fans and the university that they play for. Think about the Heisman Trophy winners and the All-Americans. They legally get paid the same amount of money every month that any other athlete on scholarship for that sport gets, but they bring in way more revenue for the university and the sport than their teammate who never sees the field does. By no means should we be paying these college athletes anything near the seven figure range, but I think it is reasonable for the best collegiate athletes to get paying one or two thousand dollars a month. I mean it is only fair. People who disagree with me would probably argue that the education their receiving is enough, but a star collegiate athlete, especially in a big sport like football or basketball brings in way more than $150,000 in revenue for their school and their sport. I knowIts just my opinion, but I think it is something that the NCAA should consider.

Blood Diamond...

Last night I watched the movie "Blood Diamond" with a few of my fraternity brothers and it got me thinking...Why aren't there more movies out there like "Blood Diamond" that serve a purpose? "Blood Diamond" is a great movie that centers around one of our world's problems, conflict diamonds. At the end of the movie, there are a few slides that come up telling the people to ask for conflict-free diamonds when they are purchasing anything with a diamond in it. The movie defined what life is really like over there in Africa, and after watching it you can see that there are problems. One of the slides that came up before the credits stated that there are still 200,000 children soldiers in Africa. Many of them, if not all of them, are involved in the African diamond problem.

I just think that more movies like "Blood Diamond", that clearly demonstrate a weakness in our world, or a situation that we need to improve is important. I definitely agree that we need a little humor in our lives, and comedies are a great source of that. How awesome would it be if 75% of the movies that we watched daily served a worldly purpose? Or taught us something that we didn't know before viewing the movie. In a perfect world, I think it is important that the people of the world are always learning. Creating opportunities to learn through movies is a great approach to teaching the people of the world what areas need improvement. I don't know too many people who don't like to sit down every once in a while and just spend two hours watching a great movie. Imagine if every time someone did this, they learned about a way they can improve society...

What does being a Pike really mean?

First off, I would like to apologize for bringing up such a touchy subject, but I can't take it anymore. I feel like SMU is almost trying to completely destroy the Greek system and it is just driving me crazy. This weekend five of our pledges were sent to a Greek IFC convention with five other pledges from each Fraternity and Sorority on campus. The intention of the weekend was supposed to be to teach these young men and women what it takes to be a good active in each person's respective chapters. Well what ended up happening is instead of trying to make these representatives better Greeks, they decided to ask them hazing questions. I am honestly disappointed to sometimes be part of a Greek organization like SMUs thanks to the image that school has created for us. It is PATHETIC! The school was attempting to trap my future Fraternity brothers by forcing them to answer questions about pledgeship. What pissed me off is that the "hazing" that SMU was trying to accuse our fraternity of doing, IS THINGS THAT OUR FRATERNITY DOESNT DO! The school is so gullible in the sense that they believe everything that they hear. When really probably only 1 out of every 100 things they hear about Greeks is probably true.

College students don't join Greek organizations so they can be accused of hazing THAT THEY DONT TAKE PART IN! Young men join Fraternities because of what it means to be in a Fraternity. I can't speak for other houses, but I know for myself being a PIKE is one of the best decisions I have ever made for myself. Being a Pike has given me opportunity to meet great people, to make life long friends, to be a part of an organization that I care about and that I feel passionate about, to compete in intramurals, to be a part of an organization that raises money for the Ryan Gibson Leukemia Foundation, to live in a house with 33 of my best friends, to eat great food from our amazing Chef Nate and his assistant Alex, to improve my leadership skills by spending a lot of time RUSHing to make Pike better, to meet more girls, to dedicate myself to something I care about, to provide me with a better opportunity to succeed in school, to provide me with better job opportunities when I graduate, to allow me the opportunity to be part of the Beta Zeta chapter for the rest of my life, etc. I could fill up this page and endless other blogs with reasons why being a Pike has been good for me and for my other brothers, BUT THE SCHOOL JUST DOESN'T UNDERSTAND!

The Greeks on campus do so much for the school that goes unnoticed. One of the reasons this school is so popular is because of the great Greek system, that I sometimes feel like our school is trying to destroy! IT'S BULLSHIT. The Greeks don't deserve this treatment, and especially the Pikes. You know that out of my Fraternity alone their are six people who are running for a position on Student Senate and one who is running for the Vice President of the school. And that over the last five years Pike has had two Student Body Presidents and one IFC President. We by no means are the only Greek organization that is involved in the student activities. Most Greeks, in general, are very active. Our house prides ourselves on being great SLAGs. We are scholars, leaders, athletes, and gentlemen. I think right now we have a 3.2 GPA as a house. I just told you why we are leaders. We haven't lost an intramural sport the WHOLE ACADEMIC YEAR. And just ask the ladies if we are gentlemen. I am certain they will tell you we are.

It just isn't fair to wrongfully accuse the Greeks of doing so many things that we don't do and things that I KNOW THE PIKES DON'T DO! It really ticks me off! It isn't fair. We don't deserve this type of treatment from the school. As I said earlier, the Greek system is one of the traditions that keeps the school strong in the eyes of the public. The school should be PROMOTING the Greek system, not DEMEANING it! I hope someone in a position of power soon realizes all the good that the Greeks do and decides to commend them for their efforts, instead of always trying to shoot them down. The Greeks and ESPECIALLY THE PIKES deserve to be treated better!

A Computer World...

Our world is ever changing and nothing proves that point better than our current technological prowess that improves with each passing day. The impact that technology and particularly computers has had on our world is unreal. At the world's current stage you probably don't have to be computer proficient to succeed, but if you aren't you better know someone who is. The world is moving into an age that could be technology driven. If you don't know how to use a computer, there is a good possibility that you won't be near as successful as you could have or should have been. Who really knows how big of an impact computers are going to have on the next twenty to thirty years, but if I had to guess I would imagine that one will need to know how to use a computer to succeed. I guess only time will tell. I can guarantee you that I will know how to use a computer, because I am pretty confident that computers will play a huge role for at least the next twenty to thirty years of my life.

Charlie...

Earlier this week, my roommate got a video sent to him through email from one of his friends back home. I had actually seen the video before, but my roommate had never seen it. The video sent to him was titled "Charlie bit my finger". It's a hilarious YouTube video! The video contains two little brothers sitting in a chair together. Charlie, the youngest brother, is sitting on the lap of the older brother and bits his finger. Then the older brother puts his finger back around the mouth of Charlie and got bit again! Its such a basic video, but for some reason it is just hilarious! We need more "easy humor" like this in our lives. Videos like this can brighten up a bad day, if you haven't seen it, please click the attached link.

Network marketing...

As I sat eating lunch today, people were just making fun of a network marketing company that a few of my friends and I got involved in. One of our friends told us about the product, we had a more formal meeting and I became interested. Not because I believe in every network marketing product that comes my way, but because I honestly believe that this product is good for the body. I mean it makes me feel better, so why should I not drink it?

The product is called Monavie, it is a nutritional beverage. Monavie contains a mixture of the world's 19 healthiest fruits and berries as intensely researched by a nutritional doctor. The main ingredient in the product is the Acai berry, arguably the healthiest berry in the world for you. The reason my buddies were poking fun at my buddies and I was because they believe it is a network marketing ploy. They believe that Monavie is a product of the pyramid scheme, which it is similar, but it is more like a leg scheme.

Regardless of how the network marketing aspect of the company is put together, the beverage itself is good for you. Why would I promote a product that I didn't like or didn't think was good for the body? I wouldn't! I am a health freak myself, I think it is complete bullshit when people judge a product without even trying it or researching how the drink is made.
How about credibility? If this nutritional beverage was a scam, would Somner Redstone drink it? Jonathan Papelbon, Boston Red Sox closer? Rodney Harrison, New England Patriots strong safety? Bill Clinton? The list goes on and on... The product itself is legit! Just try some before you judge, make an opinion on your own.

What got me excited about the business was the opportunity to not only drink the product because it was good for me and made me feel better, but also from the business aspect. One of my friends has been in the business for not even a year and he makes at least $50,000 a year. Oh and not too mention he is a full-time student. His brother has been in the business a month or two longer than him, he is now selling Monavie full-time after graduating in December. He easily makes 6 figures, probably around $150,000 a year at least and he has been out of college for less than a month. UNREAL! The best part about this situation is they are on my upline, they want to help me out, they want to help my friends out. The guy who just graduated actually paid for me to attend a Monavie presentation at the Westin on Monday night, too listen to a man who has been in the company for right around a year who makes around $75,000 a week. He says life is awesome, because all he is doing is promoting a product that he truly cares about.

Monavie the company is growing at a tremendous rate, it is projected to be a BILLION dollar company sometime in the next couple of months and who knows where the limit is. A company like Monavie could be the wave of the future. Network Marketing provides people an opportunity if they are will to take a risk. Im by no means saying that every Network Marketing company is a good one, because that is DEFINITELY not true. But a company like Monavie is for real. The drink is legit, it makes you feel better! You get 7 servings of fruits and vegetables in just one small shot. And if you take that twice a day, which most do, obviously you get around 14 servings. That is unreal. I just want to people to understand that some Network Marketing companies are legit. Monavie is one of them. If you want to learn more just look at the website www.monavie.com. Companies like this may be quite successful in the next 20-30 years, because I know that there are a lot of people who would love to promote a product and not have to sit in an office all day. Many people would love to work right out of their own living room, and a company like Monavie provides you that opportunity.

Network Marketing if done the right way benefits a lot more people than a typical company does. It provides a person the opportunity to be the president of their own organization. I honestly believe that we could be moving into a Network Marketing age. If you have a solid product, a company like this works. Not too mention the Wellness industry is obviously a huge concern with our current population. Im interested to see what a company like Monavie can do in the next 5 to 10 years. Im happy I got in early to see the ride. For me its not a hard choice. The drink tastes good. Nutritionally, it has a positive impact on me. It provides me the opportunity to promote and sell a product that I honestly believe in. I just hate people who "judge a book by its cover". Research a company or a product like that for yourself, don't overlook it and just blow it off because of how traditional network marketing companies have been built.

How to improve football recruiting at SMU...

With signing day less than a week away, SMU is wrapping up their 2008 recruiting class. To this point, SMU has pulled in a weak class according to the recruiting site www.rivals.com. Now obviously June Jones, SMU's hew head football coach, was not given enough time to put together a nationally solid recruiting class. So the jury is still out on Jones' ability to recruit at SMU, but I am sick of the trend. Rivals rates their recruits on a one to five star scale with one being the lowest and five being the bet. Over the last couple of years, SMU signed a lot of two star recruits with enough three star recruits to count on one hand.

So far this year, SMU has signed only two star recruits. Who knows? Maybe Jones sees "four or five star" potential in these players, but regardless we need to change our ways. Here are some ideas for Jones and his new staff: Focus on recruiting in Texas, but take advantage of recruiting knowledge in Hawaii and the West Coast areas. In Texas, focus on football dominant schools to try and create pipelines to SMU. Schools like Southlake Carroll, Denton Ryan, High land Park, Katy, Lake Travis, etc. For Jones' first couple of years bringing in two or three transfer athletes of JUCO players could help us become more competitive right away. SMU also needs to focus on talented football players around the nation who fit the "SMU profile" may also help us improve our recruiting problem. Improving our recruiting would have a direct impact on our success as a football program. SMU has a lot to sell, I hope June Jones and his staff take advantage of what the school has to offer. Looking forward to seeing what SMU's 2008 recruiting class looks like on signing day. GO PONIES!
